Exciting Outing Class at Arjuna Farm: A Hands-On Experience with Sheep and Goat Care

In March 2024, students from SMP Edu Global had the unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of farming at Arjuna Farm. This educational outing aimed to give the students a firsthand look into the care and maintenance of farm animals, particularly sheep and goats, while also learning about the process of milking goats and its subsequent processing.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome from the staff at Arjuna Farm, followed by a tour of the farm’s various sections. Students were introduced to the basic concepts of animal husbandry, focusing on the proper care and maintenance of sheep, including feeding, grooming, and health check-ups. They were also shown how the farm ensures the well-being of the animals through proper shelter and safe, hygienic practices.

One of the highlights of the trip was the hands-on experience of milking goats. The students were shown how to carefully and efficiently milk the goats, learning the proper techniques and the importance of cleanliness throughout the process. Following the milking session, the students were introduced to the process of turning fresh goat milk into a variety of products, such as cheese and yogurt. This allowed them to understand the value and potential of dairy production in farming.

The outing was not only educational but also fun and engaging. Students participated actively in each activity, asking questions and gaining valuable insights into the practical side of farming. The experience allowed them to connect classroom knowledge with real-life applications, making learning even more enjoyable.

This trip to Arjuna Farm was a perfect blend of education and fun, giving the students a deeper understanding of farm life and animal care. It also sparked an interest in sustainable farming practices, leaving the students with lasting memories and newfound knowledge about the importance of animal husbandry and dairy processing.

The outing was an essential part of SMP Edu Global's curriculum, reinforcing hands-on learning and fostering a connection with nature and agriculture. The school looks forward to organizing more such trips that provide valuable learning experiences beyond the classroom.
